Camp Love-A-Pet is a two week day camp for children entering grades 5-7. It runs from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Monday - Friday. Some days are longer depending on field trips. Graduation ceremonies are held at the end of each session.
The program, which is held at the SHS, teaches campers about basic dog obedience, responsible pet care, and issues impacting animal welfare.
Each day, campers work in teams to train a shelter dog. Other activities include guest speakers, arts & crafts, journal writing, field trips, and other creative games and programs.
Tuition is $200.00 and registration is on a first come, first served basis. Register Below!
We've heard from older pet lovers who want to participate in Camp, but cannot make a two week commitment during their busy summers. In response, we are offering a one week Camp for youth entering grades 8-10. This one week session includes many Camp favorites such as working with shelter dogs and experiencing SHS programs behind the scenes.
Mini Camp is a shorter week-long session for younger pet lovers. Mini Camp runs from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. One session is for children entering 1st through 2nd grade and one for children entering 3rd and 4th grade.
Young campers are introduced to basic training techniques and enrichment projects used at the SHS to keep the animals in our care comfortable. Whether campers are learning how to bathe a puppy, or clicker training cats, they will be enhancing their inherent love of animals.
Tuition is $65.00 and registration is on a first come, first served basis. Register Below!
