Together, the SHS, Greenville County Animal Care Services, The HSUS, and the Greenville County Sherriff's Office worked to rescue 197 fighting roosters from a northern Greenville County cockfighting operation yesterday.  The SHS assisted with evidence documentation in addition to animal handling and transportation.

$10 Low Income Spay/Neuter In June
May 27, 2009 - The recession has hit everyone hard - and even pets sometimes pay the price.  As part of its mission to support pets and people, for the month of June the Spartanburg Humane Society (SHS) Veterinary Clinic is offering spay and neuter surgery for just $10 to qualifying low-income households.    Also in June, the SHS is extending this price to community members who have lost their jobs and can provide proof of unemployment.

SHS Helps Cats In Need
June 28, 2008 - On Thursday, June 26th, the Spartanburg Humane Society was asked to assist Spartanburg Animal Services rescuing more than 40 neglected cats living in filthy conditions. Authorities had been alerted to the problem by neighbors complaining of a foul odor. Based on the description from investigators, this seemed to be a case of animal hoarding.

SHS Rescues 16 Horses
02/04/2008 - On Saturday, sixteen horses were transferred into the care of the Spartanburg Humane Society (SHS), many severely underweight and suffering from neglect. The animals are in special foster care in the Landrum area, where they are receiving the medical treatment and diet they need to return to good health.
