Lobbying for Stronger Laws Protecting Animals

Two recent nationwide analyses of state animal cruelty laws placed South Carolina well in the bottom third of the nation. We believe we can and should do better. The SHS Anti-Cruelty Department will also be working to make stronger laws protecting animals.

Laws must be strong enough to result in penalties that punish the perpetrators of cruelty and send a message that inhumane treatment of animals will not be tolerated.
