Thank you for looking for your new pet at SHS. There are always many wonderful, loving dogs, cats, other small animals, and even large or farm animals available for adoption and in need of a new home at the humane society. 

We are open seven days a week so please come and take a walk through our kennels and cattery when it is convenient for you! 

Why Adopt From SHS?

The Spartanburg community continues to produce many thousands of unwanted animals every year.

As the only open admission animal shelter in the county, SHS provides for the temporary needs of these pets. but we need your help to provide permanent homes.

Adoption fees are an incredible value at $85 for dogs and $74 for cats and includes the spay or neuter surgery and many other perks.

We also offer low-cost veterinary services for adopters and discounts on dog training at our new Good Dog Academy training center.  In other words, we are committed to your match being a success!

Adoption hours at the Shelter (map)
Monday - Friday  11:00 am to 6:00 pm
Weekends 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

SHS pets for adoption are also at PETsMART (map)
Wednesday - Saturday 12:00 to 7:00 pm
Sunday 11:30 to 5:00 pm

Remember, you will need some supplies for your new pet. You can purchase much of what you will need at the Spartanburg Humane Society Save-A-Pet Store, and all proceeds benefits the homeless animals in our care.
