Heartworm Awareness Clinics

$10 heartworm tests for dogs, April 21st and 25th at the SHS

Who: Anyone who wants to protect their puppy or dog from heartworm disease.

What: Heartworm testing and physical exams to help pet owners get their companions started on heartworm prevention.

When: Saturday, April 21st, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. & Wednesday, April 25th, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Where: Outside the shelter at 150 Dexter Road. Look for the tents and check in desk.

Details:

  • For $10.00, pet owners can bring their dog(s) (6 months and over) for a heartworm test and a brief exam by an SHS veterinarian.
  • Also for $10.00, pet owners can bring puppies as young as 8 weeks for a physical exam.
  • Following a negative test and/or exam, pet owners can also purchase monthly preventative.  The cost of preventative is additional, but affordable!
  • No appointment is necessary, first come, first served.
  • Dogs must be on a secure leash or in a carrier.
  • Pet owners will also be able to purchase Frontline Plus flea and tick control.

The focus of this clinic is to get puppies and dogs protected against heartworm.  We are not offering vaccines and cannot counsel pet owners about issues not related to heartworm.
