Good News!  Animals are Staying at the SHS Longer Than Ever Before!

That means we need to work harder than ever to keep the animals in our care comfortable.  Despite all of our efforts to keep the animals clean, content, and feeling loved, kennels and cages are no substitutes for a home.  Our behavior enrichment program is designed to reduce stress that is inherent in any shelter environment. 

In addition to loving attention from staff and volunteers, we use toys to provide positive stimulation.

Puppies and dogs who are busy trying to get the treat mix out of their Kong or Squirrel Dude aren't barking. And cats and kittens are happier when they have a toy to hold their attention and feed their curiosity.  

How can you help?

It's simple.  Donate toys for our enrichment program.  The online catalogs highlight toys that we have chosen for their safety, durability, and fun factor.   

How does it work?

Browse through the catalogs to choose the toy(s) you want to donate, and then proceed to checkout.  We will take the toys you order from our Save a Pet Store and give them to pets here in the shelter to enjoy!

Donate a toy in lieu of a birthday or holiday gift!

If you are donating these toys in lieu of a birthday or holiday gift, you can let the SHS know when you get to the last step of checkout.  We will send a card to your friend or loved one to let them know that you have given a gift to shelter animals in their honor!
